Venezuela: Orphanages

Amy is devoted to helping street children and orphanages in the metropolitan areas of Venezuela. The Maria Auxiliadora Orphanage (picture top right) is currently undergoing a difficult time after "Tio" Eduardo (Uncle Eduardo), former Founder and Director, suddenly passed from COVID-19. He was a father figure for the kids and the one who always searched for provision and food. After his passing, Blanca (the older lady wearing a blue shirt at the very back on the picture above) has been taking care of the kids, she says, "Everything is very sad here, I did not even want to set Christmas decorations up, but the kids begged me. They said that Tio Eduardo would have wanted us to celebrate Christmas." Blanca said she had to pull herself together, wiped off her tears, and began Christmas decorating with the kids (Middle left picture).

Amy arrived at the orphanage with bags of food on December 23rd without giving them a previous call as the orphanage does not have wifi, and phone signal is very poor. When she arrived, the kids were riding bikes and welcomed her with joy. Blanca said, "You came just when we did not have anything left to eat. It is always like this, just when all the food is gone, God sends us an angel with food and provision! Just yesterday a stranger came and drop off bikes for all the kids as Christmas gifts!" "He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing" (Deut. 10:18, NVI)
